Shaun has lived in Blandford for the last 28 years, since his family moved from Sheffield when he was 2 years old. He’s always taken an interest in local issues and plays rugby for the local Blandford Club. As well as his full time job as an electrician, he also volunteers on Sunday mornings during the rugby season to coach the youngsters. He became aware of the ‘Ducks and Drakes’ charity due to his involvement with Blandford Rugby Club as it is their nominated charity, so Ducks and Drakes was the obvious choice for his beard shave.
Bowel cancer is not a ‘popular’ charity and Shaun liked the fact it focuses on 18-30 year olds. He thought if he grew his beard for a year he may be able to raise a couple of hundred pounds. So fast forward a year later to March 2018 at the Rugby Club… His beard was shaved off in front of a very supportive crowd, and to the delight of his girlfriend and mother. Amazingly, thanks to huge support from friends, family and acquaintances £1,600 was raised, far exceeding any expectations. Thank you from us all at Ducks & Drakes for your support!

It was an excellent day at Plush with the Ducks & Drakes Cricket Tournament, with a good turn out of supporters and some brilliant cricket. The winning team for 2018, pictured above, was Plush Cricket Club! Well done to them and thank you to everyone who took part in the tournament. Thank you also to everyone who helped out and turned up to show their support. We really appreciate your support. Thank you very much to the management, staff and customers of the The Oak At Dewlish for holding a quiz for us on Sunday night! Special thanks to Mark Bagwell for running the quiz and for everyone who donated raffle prizes.
A great night was had by all and the event raised £216! If you own a venue and would like to host an event to raise funds for Ducks and Drakes, please contact us and we will help support you. |
